Ideas have been selected!
With the help of your vote, we’ve managed to whittle the scores of great ideas down to just four. They are;
Anyone who’d like to take part in developing these ideas can come along to Make-SHIFT – all you have to do to become a member of a team is to apply for a free ticket.

We can’t wait to meet everyone at MAKE:shift. Throughout the day, there’ll be
inspiring presentations, fun creative sessions and practical workshops. They’ll be
open to everyone! There’ll also be plenty of space at the event for conversation
and making ideas happen – and ideas are what Make-SHIFT’s really about.
Over the two days of the event, teams will develop the best ideas for Wolverhampton
We’d also like to hear from anyone who can offer business advice, mentoring
or any other support to teams and projects, at the event and beyond. Sign Up or contact us directly.
Contact us at maketheshift@wolverhampton.gov.uk or @makeshift event on twitter. You can check out the event website for full programme details: www.maketheshift.com and you can sign up for your free ticket here: www.makeshift.eventbrite.com/
What sort of ideas are we looking for?
We’re concentrating on three main areas:
Assets – the great stuff Wolverhampton has already got
People – the great skills and knowledge that Wolverhampton people have
Making – the great stuff that Wolverhampton can produce.
Think of empty shops or other abandoned buildings. These are assets we could
turn into pop-up shops, community cafés, silent discos or local craft centres. To see
what other people have done, look at Startup Street Stirling.
How about a service that pairs up people who can’t cook for themselves with
neighbours who just love to cook? Dig into Casserole and see how it works!
Wouldn’t it be great if we could start making useful products in our local
communities? The people in FabLab are already doing it.
How will the ideas be chosen?
While we can’t promise to take every idea forward to the MAKE:shift event, we
hope to run with as many as we can.
Our Panel will choose the best ideas for development based on these criteria:
-how an idea could benefit Wolverhampton
-how new – and creative – the idea is
-whether it’s got ‘legs’ – in other words, if it could have long-lasting benefits
and grow even bigger over time
-how much will it cost to make it happen – and to keep it going.
We will let you know in September if we’ve chosen your idea.

MORE HELP NEEDED IN WOLVERHAMPTON FOR POOR & VULNERABLE PEOPLE.
With ever spiralling utility bills, more & more disabled people are struggling to make ends meet on means tested benifits.
Currently, the existing free food distribution takes place in a very undignified way where people have to quew in all winds & weathers from the 'WINDOW' outside the Methodist Church (for all the Public to see) in Church St. W'ton.
Vulnerable, law abiding/disabled people/ carers collecting food for Patients don't feel safe due to drunks/drug users (also collecting food), as the drunks fight, spit, shout, swear, push in front of the quews, drop/throw food/litter onto the Streets. There is no…0 votes -

The equality, equal opportunity acts
My idea is that immigrants in Wolverhampto without passports should be allowed to work to help to kickstart our local economy. After all, many are prepared to do tasks that others won't do. Immigrants are human beings and should be included under the equality equal opps, human rights Act. I feel that this would reduce crime and anti-social behaviour in our city.

Community groups litter picking, weeding, reporting problem areas
Cleaner buses and shelters.
Enforce the law - prosecute the litter offenders. or anti (social?) behaviour.

Make use of Express and Star for reporting or making people aware of the law.
Wolverhampton's image is very bad - many keep away from main areas0 votes -
Increasing community spirit
Boarded up house next to Lidl at Finchfield could be used for council/ gov funded use for special needs or old people.
Again any large disused properties to be funded for above group of people or for group homes for single mothers, instead of using up available properties, which should go to low income couples or families, or low income single people0 votes -

Free shuttle buses for disabled and elderly people to and from Wolverhampton Rail and bus stations
The distance to walk to and from Wolverhampton bus station to Wolverhampton Rail station is ok for able bodied people but still too far for people with mobility problems. My idea is to bring free shuttle buses to and from bus to rail station on producing an OAP travel pass or dsabled travel pass

Clean up Wolves - Improve our Lives
To encourage youth to take pride in the environment & area they live in by setting tasks of cleaning areas of the community that needs attention.
In return they receive tokens which accumulate to vouchers for high street shops/day out/spa days.
